A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend during her 89 years of life. On February 17, 2023, she passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side.
Born February 9, 1934 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph and Margaret (nee Imre) Arvay. Esther grew up in Burnside and graduated from Fenger High School. She married the love of her life, the late Philip Bartolotta, and they were married for 64 years before his passing in 2019. In her career, she was an executive secretary, bookkeeper, and office manager, retiring from her most recent job at Enrico's Italian Dining in Frankfort. Esther was a fabulous seamstress making hundreds of costumes for her daughters' baton competitions. She proudly served as secretary of the Twirling Jewels Mother's Club. During her time in Calumet Park, she was president of the Calumet Grade School PTA in the 60s and was a member of the Laflinites Club for over 50 years. While living in Frankfort, she was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan's CCW. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved entertaining friends and family at their home. Esther enjoyed planting flowers and vegetable gardens with her late husband, Philip from which they would produce many canned vegetables. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, attending mass daily for years and never missing Sunday mass.
She has left an endearing legacy for her daughters and granddaughters, whom she loved dearly, never missing any of their events. Esther is survived by her two loving daughters Debbie Bartolotta Plesniak and Denise Bartolotta. Devoted grandmother of Margaret (Jay) Hiland, Jr. and Katherine (Josh) Lenz. Cherished sister of Joseph (Betty) Arvay. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her childhood best friend Lillian Blaho.
