Esther Ziech (nee Foltan) entered eternal life on December 23, 2021 as a
result of complications from heart disease.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard ( 1916-2001); her parents Jacob and Eva Foltan; three sisters Margaret (David) Kaukonen, Ruth (Dale) Payne, and Katherine (Sidney) Mueller; several nephews and a niece.
She is survived by three sons James (Laureen) of Kalamazao, Michigan;
Thomas (Shelley) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; John (Melissa) of Grand
Rapids, Michigan; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, nephews
and nieces.
Esther was born in 1922 in Pipestone, Minnesota. During high school
her family moved to Santa Maria, California. She met Richard in Santa
Maria when he was stationed nearby in the Army Air Force during
World War II. They were married on 1945 and moved to Joliet, Illinois
where she lived the rest of her life. After raising her three children she
worked for Illinois Bell Telephone, retiring in 1981 with 17 years of
service.
Esther and Richard were among the founding members of Our
Savior Lutheran Church on the west side of Joliet. The church was a
major focus of her life. Esther was a caring and accepting person with a
gentle and loving character. She never had a bad word to say about
another, Ever. She had a green thumb and everyone loved her cooking.
Esther was a voracious reader, loved music, and reveled in her children,
grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Joliet on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 9:00 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM.
Private interment will be held at Hills of Rest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran
Church Joliet, Illinois or local Hospice organizations would be appreciated
