Passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Age 90 years.
Survived by her children Dennis "Skip" (Cecilia) Rowan, Debbie (Ken) Nelson, Sherrie Wheet, Lorrie Harvey, and Al (Toni) VanGampler. Ten grandchildren Cory (Bernie), Amber and Sean (Jayme Johnson) Wheet, Alex West, Bret, Matt and Alyssa VanGampler, Courtney and Taylor Boyd and Jake Harvey. Five great-grandchildren Anna, Dylan, Kiley, Chloe and Gabby. Five sisters Helen (Ed) Brown, Yvonne Chermack, Dolores (Dennis) Gorman, Lois (Raymond) Miller and Elaine (Bill) Elenwood. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by a her husband Emanuel VanGampler (2007), her parents Frank and Jean David, a brother Frank David and a sister Joyce Locke.
Evelyn was born in Joliet, September 22, 1922. A graduate of Joliet Township High School. Former manager of S.G. Adams, GNC and JoAnn Fabrics. Evelyn was a avid doll collector, seamstress, gardener and enjoyed garage sales, White Sox Baseball, Bulls Basketball, tennis, gymnastics, ice skating, swimming and golf. Her true passion in life was raising and caring for her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Wednesday, May 29 at 10:00 A.M. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to American Cancer Society or Vitas Hospice Charitable Foundation will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.
