Passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, following a short illness. She was 95.

Florine is survived by her children Wayne (Madeline) of Joliet, Lawrence (Theresa) of Crown Point, IN., Kathleen of Murray, UT., and Marilyn (Jeffrey) Escue of eagle, ID. Seven grandchildren, Eric and Cory Clements, Jaclyn (David) Jacobs, Brittany (Lauren) Minhinnett, Daniel (Kacie), Douglas (Sara) and Steven (Dora) Monroe. Six great-grandchildren Ty and Isabella Clements, Kinlee, Miles and Ryder Monroe and Aida Monroe. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was born in Rush County, IN to Clarence and Fannie (nee Deerin) Maple, who preceded her in death. In 1952 she married her beloved husband Donald E. Clements, who preceded her in death after 49 years of marriage. Her siblings Kenneth, Herbert, Clarence Jr., Ruth Kile Neely and her twin Lorene Robbins also preceded her in death.

Florine earned both a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Ball State University and taught in Rushville schools before moving to Joliet. She taught first grade for two years at Laraway School district and then primarily first grade in the Joliet Public Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1993. She also volunteered for many years at the Lockport Food Pantry.

She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. She was active in the church, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Most recently, she was a member of the South Side Christian Church in Munster, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Kevin Groben officiating. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Will County Humane Society or the Lockport Food Pantry will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M.
