Fred F. Wrona
Age 90 years, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Alden Estates of Naperville.
He was born in Joliet on April 17, 1930, the son of Paul P. and Mary A. (nee Michon) Wrona.
He was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. Fred was a proud Army Veteran.
He was employed as a machine operator and also self-employed with Fred's Carpet Cleaning. He umpired for several local little leagues parks and softball at the Joliet Park District. He was the Garnsey Park caretaker. He also played the drums with the Nightwinds.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and American Legion Post 1080. He played league and softball as well as coaching many little league teams. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outside and fishing.
Preceded in death by his wife Claudia A. (nee McGann) Wrona (December 2020); his parents, Paul and Mary Wrona; six brothers, Walter (late Irene) Wrona, Edward (late Theresa) Wrona), Joseph (late,Delores) Wrona, Raymond (late, Ida) Wrona, Chester Wrona and Bernard Wrona;
two sisters, Valeria (late,Louie) Zupancic and Mayme (late, Daniel Dillon).
Survived by his children, Michael Wrona, Terry (Dena) Wrona, Karen Cooper and Don (Sue) Wrona; proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard (Patricia) Wrona; three sisters, Virgina Wrona, Delores Wrona and Christine (late, Larry) Peterson; one sister-in-law, Janet (late, Bernard) Wrona one brother-in-law, Joseph McGann. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation for Fred F. Wrona will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 10:00 AM to until of service at 11:30 AM. Per Covid-19 guidelines, everyone attending the visitation and service will be required to properly wear facial masks and observe social distancing.
Interment and military honors will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Fred will be laid to rest with his wife Claudia.
