Passed away unexpectedly at his residence, Monday, September 29, 2015. Age 78.
Survived by his children Kelly (Timothy) Offerman and Fred Jr. (Valerie) Viano; grandchildren Stephanie (Lee) Clough, Bryan Offerman, Ceara and Jaclyn Viano; a brother Richard (Kathy) Viano and his beloved dog Chloe. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Rose (nee Lentini) Viano, one brother Ken (Nancy) Viano and one sister Pauline (John) Pomykala.
A Joliet resident for many years. Retired from the Joliet Fire Department after 25 years of service. Two time firefighter of the year and Unico man of the year. He was Chairman of Firefighter's Credit Union, Trustee Joliet Firefighter Pension Board, former Recording Secretary Will County Central Trade Union; previous firefighter board member for 20 years; instrumental with the first Union Contract with the city. Member of Firefighter Local 37. Former Amateur Boxer performing at the Coliseum in the 50's. Joliet Band system performing with JJC Band; toured with Fifth Army Band, American Legion Band, Dellwood Park Band; guest performances with Lowell Richard's, Stan Kenton's Jazz Band in the 50's. Former member of the Moose Lodge 300, Vietnam Area Veteran, American Legion and retired Antique Dealer.
Funeral Services will be held at the Carlson Holmquist Sayles Funeral Home 2320 Black Road, Friday October 2, 2015, at 10 AM. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
