Passed away at Silver Cross Hospital, Friday, January 15, 2016. Age 80 years. Survived by three sons Mark (Colleen) Johnson, Brian (Joseph Henning) Johnson and Dan Johnson, a daughter Michelle (Scott) Eidle. Five grandchildren Patrick, Connor and Erik Johnson, Kathryn and Madelyn Eidle. His sister Phyllis Holmquist. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife MaryBeth Johnson (1991) and his parents David and Anna Johnson. A brother Charles Johnson and five sisters Corrine Hanstrom, Martha Beverly, Alice Peet, Gladys Smith and Elizabeth McWilliams. Gene was born in Joliet September 24, 1935. He graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1953. Retired from the Carpenters Union Local #174 after 35 years. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Wednesday, January 20 at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Tim Linstrom officiating. Memorials to Wounded Warriors will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M.
