Passed away at her residence, Monday, November 30, 2020. Age 100 years. Survived by her children John (Charlene) McDade of Wilmington, Bonnie (Terry) Ziakis of Shorewood and Tammie Rippberger of Tuscon, AZ. Proud grandmother of David and Jeffrey McDade, Brandy (Jim) Robbins, Matt Ziakis, Jordyn and Jacob Rippberger. Great-grandmother of Rachel McDade, Alexis and Jimi Robbins and Libby Ziakis. She was preceded in death by her husband George McDade (1991), a sister Lena Gurnic and three brothers brother Emery Gurnic, Andrew Gurnic and Raymond Gurnic. Genevieve was born February 26, 1920 to John and Hazel Gurnic. She married George McDade on June 15, 1940. Member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and former member of First Lutheran Church. Genevieve worked at Town & Country Bowling Lanes for many years, formerly working for UniRoyal at the Joliet Army Ammunition Plant. Lying in state at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Wednesday, December 9th from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Loy G. Schlote officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Covid -19 safety protocol and social distancing will be observed.
