George G. Ward Age 86 years, passed away on April 19, 2016 in Naples, Florida. Born in DesMoines, Iowa on June 7, 1928. Formerly resided in Shorewood and in Wilmington since 1960. He was a US Navy Veteran during the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 1080 in Joliet. He was employed for several years by Bill Jacobs Chevrolet and retired from the Will County Courthouse. George served faithfully on the Troy Twp. Fire Protection District Board for 38 years. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. Preceded in death by his first wife, Kay (nee Major) (1997); his mother, Birdie (nee Bennett) Ward and a sister Donna Rhodes. Survived by his wife, Barbara (Rose) (nee Brehn) Ward; three children, George Jr. (Jennalynn) Ward, Scott (Ellen) Ward and Melissa (Matt) Olson; two step-children, Donald Rose and Kelly Rose; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a nephew, William Rhodes. A Memorial Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist- Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, Joliet on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 4 pm until time of services at 7 pm. Private inurnment. In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Trinity Services would be greatly appreciated.
