Gordon C. Tatro

Passed away at Willow Falls Assisted Living, Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at the age of 99 years.

Gordon is survived by his two children William (LeAnn) Tatro of Joliet and Barbara (Gerald) Matia of Colorado Springs, Co. Four grandchildren Lauren (Mark) Iwaszko of Grand Rapids, MI, Adam Tatro of Joliet, Kristen Matia of Oakland, Ca and Todd (Michelle) Matia of Colorado Springs, CO. Three great-grandchildren Anna Iwaszko, Joshua Matia and Joy Matia. His brother Robert Tatro of LaJolla, CA.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 77 years Marilyn May (nee Skinner) who passed May 5, 2025.

Born on March 4, 1926, in Joliet to the late Roy E. and Irma R. Tatro, Gordon graduated from Joliet Township High School, Class of 1944. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army Paratroopers, stationed in France during World War II. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Skinner, on April 10, 1948.

In 1951, Gordon began a distinguished 25-year career with the Joliet Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1976 after faithfully serving and protecting the community he loved. Following his police service, he continued his commitment to public service as an Officer of the Court with the Will County Judicial Courts. Gordon was a 72 year member of the Masonic Matteson Lodge #175 A.F. & A.M. and a lifetime member of the Moran Club of Joliet.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Gordon and Marilyn will be interred together at Woodlawn Memorial Park, reunited in rest after a lifetime spent side by side.
