Gwendolyn J. Kirman (77), of Crest Hill, IL, passed away on June 17, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends.
Survived by her son Jeffery (Antonina) White, daughter Kristi (Jim) Mulroe, step-son Timothy (Laura) Kirman, step-daughter Kathleen (Mark Brown) Kirman, her sister Joan Gomora and five grandchildren Elizabeth White, Victoria White, Vivian White, Colin (Stephanie) Mulroe and Brennan (Julia) Mulroe].
Preceded in death by her parents James and Dorothy (nee Wilson) Holloway and her husband Arthur Kirman.
Gwen retired after many years of employment with Lange Manufacturing as a Production Coordinator. However, her passion has always centered around dogs. She was an obedience trainer and owned a boarding kennel. In the past she has owned Whippets, Bloodhounds and Doberman Pinchers. She acquired Kyser, her first Standard Schnauzer, in 2004 which she showed successfully in the US and Canada. Last fall she won Best Owner Handled Dog in Show with her current Standard Schnauzer, Ace.
Gwen has been a member of the Standard Schnauzer Club of America for 20 years, serving several years as Ways and Means Chair. She also helped with several SSCA National Specialty shows. She was also a long time member of the Prairieland Standard Schnauzer Club of Central Illinois serving on the Board of Directors for several years. As a member, she was involved with some of the club's community service projects. Gwen and Kyser represented the club for dedication of an Emergency Relief Trailer for pets through a partnership with the American Kennel Club. The trailer is based with Emergency Management Services in Joliet.
Services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of services at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation, Inc. would be appreciated. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
