Harriett Lee Crismon- Age 97. Passed away December 2, 2021 peacefully at Senior Star Memory Care, in Romeoville, Illinois. Preceded in death by her husband Harold, in November 2015 in Champaign, Illinois. Her sisters Claudine Davis, Jeannie Harris, her parents Mae and her step-father George Mahr of Hoopeston, Illinois, and her father Torrence Harris of Rossville, Illinois. She leaves her daughters Harriett Mae (Rick) Nelson of Romeoville and Nancy (Michael) Lacy of Maryland. Her grandchildren Matthew (Tara) Nelson, great grandchildren Shelby Rae (Jessie) Delagaraza, Sidney Elizabeth Nelson and Logan Matthew Nelson all of Romeoville, Illinois. granddaughters Shannon Marie Nelson (Larry) Norwood of Land O'Lakes Florida, Victoria Mae Nelson (Brendon) May of Oswego, Illinois., and grandchildren Kate Lacy great-grandchild Michael, and grandson Ian Lacy all of Damascus, Maryland. Also surviving a nephew Franklin "Butchie" Wayne Davis of Leroy, Illinois. Harriett remained active with the military and the American Legion where she was the first female Commander in Flora, Illinois when she and Harold lived in Geff, Illinois. She was always collecting items for needy families and her love of stuffed animals and dolls for children and clothing for everyone. Her other favorite activities was the "Red Hatters" and she never saw a red hat she didn't like and then end up having! Being in the parades for the American Legion and being hostess for many of the Red Hat Society gatherings she was absolutely in her glory. You couldn't keep up with her. Of all her activities she loved to sew and embroidery the most and made all of her daughters dance costumes, Halloween costumes and special dresses even staying up all night to complete one for Harriett Mae. Those dance costumes have been displayed at Senior Star for all the residents and staff to enjoy, which would always thrill her to see them again with all the memories. Funeral Service will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory 2320 Black Road, Friday at 4:00 PM. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until time of services. Interment Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials to Plainfield United Methodist Church or Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
