Hiram Wesley Chappell passed away October 9th, 2024 at the age of 83.
Hiram was born June 30th, 1941 in Pittsfield, IL to Estill and Dorthy Chappell. Hiram was the proud resident of Romeoville, IL for sixty years. He then moved to Minooka, IL four years ago. He married Roselyn on September 24th, 1978.
Hiram worked as maintenance for 8 years at GAF corporation, 18 years at Bensonville School District, and 5 years at the First Baptist Church of Bolingbrook. Hiram was a highly decorated Vietnam and Korea Veteran who received many honors. Hiram loved to work with his hands and was skilled in all things. Hiram was an avid historian, bird lover, craftsman, gardener, lapidary, and artist. Hiram referred to his 14 grandchildren as the prides of his life and he shared all of his hobbies, skills, and workmanship with them.
Hiram was preceded in death by his parents Estill and Dorothy Chappell, his brother Ronald Chappell, Step-son Bill Schofield, Grandson Matthew Schofield, and sister-in-law Janna Peters.
Hiram is survived by his wife, Roselyn Cornale Chappell; sister, Marcia Chappell; son, Hiram Edward Chappell; his daughters, Mary Ann (Dave) DuBois; Laurie Ann (Benny) Phillips; and Genét Marie Seidling; grandchildren, Eric J. Schofield (Nikki); Brandon M. Phillips (Alyssa); Christa N. Upton (John); Brett M. Phillips (Mercedes); Boaz M. Phillips (Indira); Bradley M. Phillips (Kelsea); Danielle R. Richardson (Austin); Paige M. Reiter; Jacob W. Seidling; Dorian C. Herrera; Niko A. DuBois; Tristan N. DuBois; Brennan C. DuBois; his 15 great-grand children; his sister-in-law, Marilyn (Charles) Bourge. Special gratitude to his niece Kathleen Peck, caregiver Rebecca Nickle, and good friend and brother in Christ Rev. Robert Armstrong.
Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the Gary Sinise R.I.S.E foundation that provides homes for disabled veterans.
