James S. Flanery "Jim"

Passed away at Lightways Hospice Home, Saturday, November 19, 2022. Age 72 years.

Survived by his wife Patricia Flanery (nee Kobylarz). Two sons Christopher Flanery and Timothy Flanery. Daughter Stephanie (Ryan) Hawkins. Three grandchildren Hezekiah, Adah and Arlan. His brother Anthony (Jeannie) Flannery. Two nieces Karen DeMara and Lauren Lopez. Also several great-nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents James "Beecher" Flannery and Anna M. Flannery.

Jim was born September 29, 1950 in Joliet. He worked for the Joliet School District #86 and Burr Ridge Consolidated School District #180 as a maintenance engineer. Formerly Jim was a carpenter with 3J's Remodeling in Joliet and the City of Joliet Water Department.

Jim has always loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and camping brought him great joy! His latest passion, which he jumped into whole heartedly, was muzzle loading. Jim was in his element as a "mountain man". A regular Mr. Fix It, there wasn't a tool he didn't have or couldn't use. Life member of the Eastside A.C., NRA, Illinois State Rifle Association and American Hunting Club. Member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church. Jim's family would like to thank Dr. John Walsh and the Joliet Fire Station #5 for their  compassion and care.

Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Sunday, November 27th at 5:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials to American Lung Association or Lightways Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M.
