Of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Senior Star Memory Care, Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Age 80 years.
Survived by her loving husband of 57 years Sheldon C. Latz. Four children Carl (Doris) Latz, Eric (Lori-fiance') Latz, Sara (Jim) Tyrell and Nora (Tom) Gleason. Six grandchildren Ricky (Lisa) Highland, Colette Tyrell, Nick (Amanda) Tyrell, Tallan Latz, Keelyn Tyrell and Casey Tyrell. Three great-grandchildren Brayden Lepe, Lennyn Highland and Evelyn Highland. Also survived by her sister Pat (Don-deceased) Harvey, sister-in-law Sharon (William) Drilling, brother-in-law Robert (Clara) Latz, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Evelyn (nee Bajt) Biegun. Her brother and sister-in-law Gordon (Judith) Latz.
Janice was born March 13, 1941 in Joliet. Graduate of St. Francis Academy Class of 1959, St. Joseph School of Nursing and College of St. Francis. Janice was a nurse at Hines VA Research Hospital in Chicago, Nix Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, TX, St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet and retired from St. Patrick Residence in Naperville as Assistant Director of Nursing and Supervisor of Staff Development for 31 years. A member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus Catholic Church. She was a member of Richland PTC, Providence Mother's Club and a Volunteer at Joliet Area Community Hospice for many years. Janice enjoyed gardening, journaling, camping and family genealogy. She was a wonderful mentor and teacher to all whom she worked with and knew. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Senior Star Memory Care for their amazing care, Silver Cross Hospital Staff and a special thanks to Annette from Lightways (Joliet Area Community Hospice).
Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Thursday, June 17th at 11:00 A.M. to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus at 11:30 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials to Lightways (Joliet Area Community Hospice) or the Alzheimer's Foundation will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Facial coverings will be required.
