Jennifer M. Cashen (nee McLurkin) – Passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Age 67 years. Survived by her loving husband of 44 years Philip Cashen and her son Matthew Cashen. A sister Jill (ray) Morgan and three rbothers Charles McLurkin Jr., Robert (Sandra) McLurkin and Ronald (Yvonne) McLurkin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceded in death by her parents Charles and Jennie (nee Fair) McLurkin and a brother Julian McLurkin. A graduate of the University of St. Francis, she would go on to receive a Masters Degree from Illinois State University and then Lewis University. Jennifer retired from Joliet Public School District 86 after over 42 years of teaching. She truly loved education, her coworkers and students. Your kindness and level of care were second to none Memorial services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to the American Cancer Society will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services.
