Jo Ann H. Parnell

Of Joliet, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2026 at Lightways Hospice after a short battle with cancer at the age of 83 years.

Jo Ann was born June 30th, 1942 in Joliet to Emily Korst (nee Sitar) and Eugene Korst. She graduated from Joliet Township High School Class of 1960.

Throughout her life, Jo Ann built a fulfilling 32 year career as a secretary before retiring from Argonne National Laboratory. After retirement, Jo Ann enjoyed shopping for her favorite trinkets, decorating for every holiday, and gardening. Jo Ann enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her loving parents Eugene and Emily Korst, her first husband Kenneth Lawlor, and loving son Michael Lawlor.

She leaves behind a wonderful legacy and is survived by her husband Clyde Parnell, her loving children Jeffrey (Sherri) Lawlor and Kathy (J.B.) Kitchens. Her step-son Justin (Julie) Parnell. Grandchildren Kevin (Jenna) Lawlor, Shannon (Mike) Pesce, Shawn Lawlor, and Ava Kitchens. Her step grandchildren Scott, Ashley, and Kimi and great-grandchildren Logan and Garrett Lawlor, Parker, Mia and Sydney Pesce.

A private family burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care will be appreciated.
