Obituary

Passed away at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, Monday, December 19, 2022. Age 86 years.

Survived by her husband of 63 years John R. Cryder. Their children David Cryder, Carol (Alex) Galskoy and John (Julie) Cryder. Two step-granddaughters Molly and Amy Weindorf.

Preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard A. Manley.

Jo was born January 9, 1936 in Chicago to Addison C. and Olga Manley. She graduated from Northwestern University School of Nursing in 1959. That year Jo Ann married her husband John. After raising the children to school age she worked at Silver Cross Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet Grade School District 86 and Valley View School District. Then she worked as a visiting nurse for Will County Health Department and ended her nursing career working at Senior Service Center retiring in 1997. Jo is a member of Faith Lutheran Church and former member of Theodore Street Lutheran Church where she was involved with practically everything from Choir to Council.

She liked to read and enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and quilting. In her early years she enjoyed riding and often talked about her time living in Mexico, where she had her own horse.

Memorial Services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 353 N. Midland Ave., Wednesday, December 28th at 10:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers memorials to Faith Lutheran Church will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, December 27th from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M.
