Joan Sheila Staszak
(nee McGuire)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Joan Sheila Staszak, who passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025 at the age of 88 years old.
Born on October 15, 1936 in Blue Island, Illinois, to Richard and Julia McGuire, Joan lived a long and fulfilling life. She was the heart and soul of our family, a source of unwavering love, wisdom, comfort and selflessness. Her warmth, kindness and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Joan was the proud mother of Martin, Tom, Peggy Staszak and Kathy (Ray) Shroba. Two grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, Matthew and Katelyn Shroba. She found joy in the simple things in life. Joan was a room mom at Holy Family, manager for Joliet Softball Association, and was President of the Mother's Club at Catholic High. She was a die hard Cubs fan and loved to sing Go Cubs Go. Her great legacy will be one of devotion to her family, unconditional love, generosity, selflessness and strength.
Joan is preceded in death by her beloved husband Jim(1987) and her parents Richard and Julia McGuire (nee O'Neill). Joan will lovingly be remembered by all of those whose lives she enriched. She will be dearly missed by her children and grandchildren, but her spirit will live on in our hearts. We all take comfort knowing that she is at peace and will be reunited with her beloved husband and her devoted parents.
Funeral services for Joan will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Wednesday, July 9th at 11:00 A.M. to the Cathedral of St. Raymond, 604 N. Raynor Ave. at 11:30 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lightways Hospice, who took extraordinary care of our mother at the very end of her amazing life. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9th from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M.
