John Baki
passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. John was born in Budapest, Hungary. He lost his parents at the age of 8 during WWII. John left Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution. He arrived in the USA in 1957 with no more than the clothes he was wearing. He eventually settled in the Chicago area and has been a resident of Joliet for the past 50 years.
John was a loving husband and proud father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, nature and long drives. In addition to leading local boy scout troops, he was a Master Mason who dedicated a large part of his life to Joliet Lodge 42.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Baki, their children, Lori (Mark) McGrath, Lynne Rae (Perry) Fielder, Jennifer (Billy) Baki, Cathryn Baki, Janika (Jason) Alling and Janina (Eric) Baki; his children, Loretta (Tom) Miller, Beth (Kurt) Steinz and Diane (Tony) Wuethrich; 26 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sandor and Erzsebet Baki and a son, Elton Craig Johnson.
Per John's wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
