passed away on March 25, 2018 after a long illness. Survived by his sisters Karen Wimberly and Therese Brown Crate (Ron) of Santa Barbara, California, Mary Crate Johnson of Taos, New Mexico and brothers Daniel and Thomas Crate of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents John R. Crate, Sr. and Rosemary Crate. Riley became an accomplished electrician as a member of the I.B.E.W and was a certificated ISA Level 3 Instrument Technician. He spent his career working at the oil refineries, chemical and power plants in the Joliet and Chicago area and pursued many other interests, including development of neuromedical devices, amateur radio, flying, computer technology, cooking, gardening, and helping friends with home improvement projects. Riley will be greatly missed by family and the many friends he helped. Memorials in John's name to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL. 60431 will be appreciated. Private family interment will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at a later date.
