Passed away peacefully after a brief illness with his family by his side, Sunday, July 22, 2012. Age 91.
Survived by his loving wife of 62 years Ann L. Henschel; three sons John (Mary), David (Jean) and Richard (Judy) Henschel; nine grandchildren Jon (Lisa) Henschel, Kristin (James) Potthoff, Erik (Kathleen) Henschel, Heidi (Daniel) Kim, Ashley, Richard, Dan, Abby and Kevin Henschel; three great-grandchildren Samantha Henschel, Brady and Parker Kim. His sister Mary (Vernon) Nobs and a sister-in-law Mary Kay Reynolds. Nephews Kent (Kathy), Rick (Jan) and Tim Reynolds, Carl and Mike Melin and niece Cathy (Dick) Watkins as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents Henry and Anna Henschel; three brothers Joe, Tony and Jim and a sister Josephine.
Veteran of the 8th Army Air Corps, serving in the 388th Bomb Group. Retired from Sears after 38 years as a Division manager. Member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond.
An avid outdoors man, but golfing was his passion having two "hole-in-ones."
John was a kind, easy going man who's greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Raymond, 604 N. Raynor Avenue, Monday, July 30, 2012 at 12-Noon. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of Mass.
