John was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. He could always be seen displaying his patriotism wearing his Vietnam Veteran hat and interacting with fellow Veterans. He retired from Argonne National Laboratory after 29 years working in numerous departments during his tenure.
John had a great love for music from a young age starting with being a member of the Joliet Township High School marching band. His love of music continued as he found great enjoyment playing the organ for his family and guests at his home. He was a long-time member of the Joliet Antique Auto Club carrying on his Father's love of automobiles. He most recently served as the Treasurer of the club and hosted the annual auto club picnic at his residence on the Kankakee River.
John was a loving family man, especially devoted to his sons and granddaughter, whom he was very proud of. He spent his entire life on the Kankakee River. He instilled his love of the water to his Sons and Granddaughter by teaching his knowledge of the boating lifestyle to them. Some of his favorite passions of the river were Captaining sunset pontoon rides with his family and friends and being the Grand Marshall for the annual 4th of July boat parade on the river.
John will be remembered as a friendly, kind man, and a gracious host. He always wanted everyone to feel welcome and enjoy their time as his guest. You were only a stranger at his house once.
