John L. Miller
Passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with
lung cancer, Friday, August 4, 2023. Age 81 years.
Survived by two sons Donald Miller of Albuquerque NM. and John Miller of Sheridan, IL.. Four grandchildren Austin Miller of Shorewood, Alex(Kathryn) Miller of Crest Hill, Emily Miller of Kansas City, KS. and Aiden Mille of Shorewood. A great-granddaughter Amelia Miller. His two sisters Barbara (Victor) Corsetti of Shorewood and Judy (Pete) Hobert of Loveland, CO.. His two brothers Michael (Mandy) Miller of Suffolk, England and Jeff (Mary Sue) Miller of Joliet. Also survived by two Aunts Lois Bernhard of Elwood and Ruth Ann Campbell of Streamwood and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by wife Nancy J. Miller (nee Hrebec) (1993) and his parents Donald Miller (1993) and Shirley V. Carlson (1981).
John was a lifetime Joliet/Channahon resident born December 4, 1941 in Joliet. Drafted and served in the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army. John finished his degree at JJC and was also an agent with John Hancock Insurance Co. and a Realtor in his younger years. Upon returning from his service to his country John moved to Channahon and went on to work for Caterpillar Tractor Co. and eventually retiring from his career as an electrician from IBEW Local #176. John was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Channahon, American Legion Post #1080, V.F.W. Stone City Post #2199 and the Croatian Cultural Club.
Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Friday, August 11th at 9:15 A.M. to St. Ann's Catholic Church, 24500 S Navajo Dr, Channahon at 10:00 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10th from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M.
