John G. Platt Jr. - died peacefully, Wednesday, January 26, 2022. Age 88 years. Survived by his three sons Terry (Karen) Platt, David (Michelle) Platt, John (Diane dec.) Platt and daughter-in-law Anna (Tom dec.) Platt. Six grandchildren Steve Platt, Alan (Jennifer) Platt, Amy McNeff, Jennifer (Cory) Dimmitt, Kevin (Andrea) Platt and Marissa Platt. Seven great-grandchildren; also surviving by a loving sister-in-law Kathryn "Kay" (James) Pitcairn. Preceded in death by his wife Ruth L. Platt, his parents John and Esther Platt. His son Tom Platt, sister Edna Platt Ruth and his brother Raymond Platt. Lifelong residence of Joliet, graduate of Joliet Township High School. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. John had passion for sports, especially baseball and enjoyed coaching multiple sports. He never missed his kids or grandkids sporting events. John will be missed by his loving family and friends. The family would like to thank Danny Hare, John's caregiver, for the exceptional care and levity he brought to him each and every day.
