John L Stanton- Passed away peacefully at Alden Estates of Shorewood, Sunday, October 3, 2021. Age 90
Survived by his sons John (Jill) Stanton, and Scott (Suzanne) Stanton; loving grandchildren Alec, Stephanie, Austin, Stacey, and Ashley Stanton, a sister Carolyn Smith, brother- in- law Robert Smith, and brother Paul Stanton.
Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years Grace E Stanton, and parents Leslie and Esther Stanton.
John worked at Bodine Electric for 17 years before retiring. He held machinist positions with Union Special, the Naval Ordinance Plant, and a number of smaller machine shops in the Chicago area.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He returned home to Bay City MI and found his way to Chicago, where he met his loving wife and raised a family. An avid football fan, he especially enjoyed watching and attending college games. Attending sporting events to watch his grandchildren play, along with an opportunity to visit, was also an activity he looked forward to. Another passion of his were vacation cruises with his wife Grace, to destinations including Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Germany, and the many trips to Vegas.
A memorial service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, 40 Houbolt Road, Joliet, Il 60431, Friday, October 8th, at 10 am.
Inurnment at Concordia Cemetery Park Forest, Illinois.
