Tribute & Message From The Family
John Angelo Turrisi, Sr., age 58, of Crest Hill, Illinois, was called home by the Lord on March 2, 2022. John is survived by his beloved wife Crystal Shimizu. He was the loving father of John (Andrea) Turrisi, Jr., Jeremy (Alyssa) Turrisi, stepfather to Joshua Shimizu, Amber (Ryan) Trainor, and Nicole Shimizu. John was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren.
John was raised in Blue Island, Illinois, son of the late Charles Turrisi, Sr., and the late Lilllian Wessel. He was the loving brother of Vicki Brown, Charles (Deborah) Turrisi Jr., Theodore Turrisi, and Anthony (Clarrissa) Turrisi.
John started his career in communications with Leader Communications, and later worked for US Cellular, where he was the first person to install mobile communications for the Chicago Coast Guard boats. John enjoyed learning many vocational trades. He came from a family of roofers and built his first home with the help of his brother Chuck. It was at that point in his career he pursued residential and commercial remodeling. John would often train, mentor, and employ members from the 12-Step Program.
John had a heart for service, and was a devoted member of Parkview Christian Church. John made many friends over the years and served his community by mentoring teens and young adults who struggled with social issues. John enjoyed spreading the Good News Of Salvation through Jesus Christ to everyone he met.
John's most difficult journey began in 2018, when he was informed that he would need a lung transplant. His battle to breathe didn't end there. After his transplant, he fought lung rejection for 2.5 years. John took his last earthly breath surrounded by his family, who love him dearly, but they know that "Jesus Loves Him More."
John will always be remembered for his unwavering faith in Jesus, his wide-ranging trade skills, his sense of humor, and his love for his wife and their family.
