Joyce E. Baldwin
(nee Peterson)
Age 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.
Survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald M. Baldwin; four nephews, Richard H. (Patricia) Johnson of Jacksonville, IL, Jerred W. (Melanie) Johnson of Plainfield, Robert D. Johnson of Joliet and William B. (Darlene) Ashton of Platteville; one niece, Barbara Ashton of Joliet; a special cousin, Jay Gregory; a brother-in-law, John Ashton; a nephew-in-law, David Berg and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Eva (nee Morrison) Peterson;
a sister, Marilynn R. (late, Robert) Johnson; a sister-in-law, Jean Ashton and a niece, Jill J. Berg.
Joyce attended Farragut Grade School, Joliet Township High School and the University of Illinois where she earned a Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education. She began her 35 year teaching career at Farragut Grade School and later as a Guidance Counselor/Dean at Hufford Jr. High School and Dirksen Jr. High School. Joyce enjoyed Needlepoint, Golf, Book Club, Swimming at the "Y" and traveling around the world with her cousin, Lois Gregory. She will be dearly missed by her family.
The family would like to thank the staff of Senior Star, Lakewood Nursing Home and Adventist St. Thomas Hospice for their kind and loving care to Joyce during her stays.
A Memorial Visitation and Service will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Joliet on Saturday, April 8, 2017 beginning at 1:00 pm until time of services at 2:00 pm. Rev. David Kaller officiating. Private inurnment at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Services of Joliet Building Fund would be appreciated.
