Joyce E. Miner

Of Joliet, IL died March 6, 2024, she was 89.

Joyce was beloved by many people. She was very active for many years in First Presbyterian Church in Joliet. She served as a Deacon and Elder. Joyce and her husband Wilbur originated and led a marriage enrichment program for many years at the church, having a profound impact on many marriages inside and outside of the church. Joyce was also selected to represent the Blackhawk Presbytery at National Assembly as an Elder. She was also active for many years in the Joliet Junior College Faculty Wives organization.

Her greatest love was for Jesus, her husband, and her children. She was a loving support and confidant for many family members and friends throughout her life, even in the final week of her life. She loved, supported and encouraged her husband throughout their marriage, which was a marriage for anyone to emulate.

Born in Peoria, IL to Thomas and Aileen Lowder, Joyce is survived by her son Dan Miner of Purcellville, VA, her daughter Beth Maurer, of Steger, IL, grandsons Ryan Rozich (Molly) of Austin, TX, Logan Miner (Victoria) of Boerne, TX, and Jacob Maurer of Steger, IL. She is also survived by her granddaughter Natalie Miner of Austin, TX, four great grandchildren, and her sister Linda Garrels (Chuck) of Secor, IL and brothers-in-law Bill Tornow of ElPaso, IL and Clark Miner (Kate) of Coal Valley, IL. Joyce Miner was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Miner, her son Steve Miner, her parents Thomas and Aileen Lowder, her very special great aunt and great uncle Ila and George Fritz, and siblings Tommy, Donnie, Janet, Sandy, Sharon, and Judy.

Visitation for Joyce will be held at the Carlson Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Joliet, Friday, March 22nd from 3:00 to 7:00 Lying in state at First Presbyterian Church, 805 Western Ave. Joliet, Saturday, March 23rd from 1:00 P.M. until time of services at 1:30 P.M. Joyce's wishes were to be cremated and to eventually join her husband Wilbur and their son Steve in the columbarium in First Presbyterian Church.
