Passed away at her home with her family by her side, Saturday, April 3, 2021. Age 73 years. Survived by her husband of 32 years Albert Thomas, five children Bryan Sargent, Jeff Sargent, Amy Sargent-Smith, Timothy (Bridget) Sargent and Tiffany Thomas. Her brother Thomas M. McLaughlin and sister Nancy (Brian) Cameron. Ten grandchildren Paige, Jacob (Bridget), Blaise, Ty, Samantha, Joey, Oliver, Maeve, Dade and Kiya Reegan. One great-grandson Logan. Two nephews Jason (Tracy) Cameron and Josh (Jayme) Cameron. Preceded in death by her parents Matthew Robert and Eleanor E. McLaughlin, daughter-in-law Lana DeCamp-Sargent and step-daughter Crystal Thomas. Karen was born February 2, 1948 in Joliet. She graduated from St. Francis Academy High School Class of 1966. Member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Karen worked as a law clerk for several Joliet area law firms though out her career. Her greatest joy was her family and her grandchildren's activities. Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Thursday, April 8th at 1:00 P.M. to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 130 Woodlawn Ave. at 1:30 P.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Visitation will be held Thursday from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
