Passed away peacefully, Friday, January 3, 2014. Age 80 years. Survived by his two children Kristine (John) Lavelle and Blake Axelson. Two granddaughters Erin and Abby Lavelle. A sister Lynn (Dave) Horwath. Two nieces Jennifer (Kurt) Burnham and Lauren (Grant) Essig and a nephew Mark Horwath. Preceded in death by his wife Nancy Axelson, his parents Eric and Anna Lisa Axelson. Veteran of the US Army. Graduate of Joliet Township High School and Augustana College. Retired from Lockport Township High School where he taught business and drivers education. He enjoyed Coin Collecting, fishing and his vacation home in Ely, Minnesota. Memorial services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 421 E. Benton Street, Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 10:00 A.M. until the times of services at 11:00 A.M.
