Linda K. Wolter
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda K. Wolter on Monday, August 28, 2023, at her residence, at the age of 81.
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Merle J. Wolter, who stood by her side through the ups and downs of life. Together, they built a family that brought them immense joy and pride. Linda was a devoted mother to her children Eric S. (Kasey Gibbs) Wolter, Dr. Deanne Wolter and Kara K. (Phil) Curran. Her nurturing spirit extended to her nine grandchildren Zachary Wolter, Brittany (Adam) Losson, Karsten Wolter, Jake Bayuk, Luke Mesquita, Christopher (Summer) Salazar, Alexis Salazar, Gabrielle Salazar, and Hannah Curran. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren Elias and Elsie Losson, and Sienna Salazar. Linda's sister, Elizabeth Ann Edwards, shared a close bond with her throughout their lives. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews
Linda was preceded in death by her son Kirk M. Wolter, in 1968, a loss that left an indelible mark on her heart. Also preceded by her two brothers Stephen R. and Cedric L. Storm and her sister, DeLila J. Wassink, in eternal rest.
Linda was born in Woodbury, Illinois, on March 5, 1942, to Harold R. and Beulah E. (nee Plummer) Storm. She pursued her education with dedication, graduating from Neoga High School and Joliet Junior College. Her professional journey was marked by service, where she first worked as a telephone operator for a precursor to AT&T, then later in life she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Plainfield Stamping Co., Will County Circuit Clerk's office and retiring from Joliet Grade School District #86 as a Teacher's Aide.
Linda's faith was a cornerstone of her life, as she was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church since 1970, where she taught Sunday School, served on the Altar Guild, helped create braille bibles for the blind, cooked for church functions and prepared meals for the unhoused.
Linda's commitment to her community was unwavering. She was a former member of the Joliet Junior Women's Club and actively participated in the PTA Boards of Pershing, Eisenhower and Joliet Central High School She was an ardent supporter of her children's extracurriculars, including selling concessions during ball games to raise money to purchase new team jerseys.
In her leisure moments, Linda found joy in thrift shopping, where her keen eye for treasures and bargains was legendary. She also had a passion for cooking and the art of refurbishing furniture, turning the old into something beautiful and new.
Lying in state at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Wednesday, September 6th from 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Matthew Carlson officiating. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church will be appreciated. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Tuesday, September 5th from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M.
