Lois E. Bivens – born October 6, 1930, passed away peacefully at Sunny Hill Nursing Home, Friday, February 16, 2024. Age 93 years.
Survived by her daughter Bonnie May (Raymond) Amezcua, sons Kenneth Bivens, Gerald (Lynn) Bivens, grandchildren Olivia Amezcua, James (Chelsea) Amezcua, Kevin Bivens, Jill (Josh) Zoltek, Jacquie (Kevin Zachow) Workman, Jenelle (Brooke) Bivens; great grandchildren Michael and Brandon Nye, Jackson and Harrison Bivens, Alivia and Avery Zoltek, Ivy Rose and Violet Amezcua and Aria Workman, loving nieces Linda (Robert) Sanfilippo, Carolyn (Bobby) Scott, Elaine Cotter, Gail Zielke nephews Edward Rieck, David Hunter and Richard Zielke Jr. and sister in law Barbara (Richard) Zielke.
Preceded in death by her parents Rudolph and Caroline Zielke, sisters Mildred (George) Dallner, Norma (Robert) Shepherd, Bernice (Robert) Hunter, brothers Marshall (Alice) Rieck and Richard Zielke, grandchildren Katie and Kristen Bivens and nephews Charles Hunter and Robert Shepherd.
Lois was a lifelong resident of Joliet. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran since 1952. Lois was a waitress in Joliet for over 45 years. She was an animal lover like no other. She made it her mission to take care of stray cats, to feeding them, finding homes and getting them spayed and neutered. She also loved to garden and plant flowers.
