Louis E. Regganie Jr.
Louis Regganie, known lovingly to family and friends as Lou or Louie, passed away in July 5, 2026 at his home in New Lenox, Illinois. Born on July 17, 1933, in Joliet, Illinois, Lou lived a long and industrious life defined by dedication, service, and an unwavering work ethic that touched everyone who knew him.
Lou wasted no time building his future. Straight out of high school, he entered the electrical trade, developing the skilled hands and disciplined mind that would characterize the rest of his life. When his country called, he answered without hesitation, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. His military service deepened his sense of duty and resilience, qualities he carried with him long after he returned home.
Following his time in the Army, Lou channeled his tireless energy into the world of real estate development. Over the years, he became an avid developer, acquiring and managing numerous properties throughout the Joliet area. His entrepreneurial spirit and determination earned him a respected reputation in the community. Those who worked alongside him knew Lou as a man who never shied away from hard work, who led by example, and who took great pride in everything he put his name to.
Louis is lovingly remembered by his children Edward (Nancy) Regganie and Richard (Kathryn) Regganie, Jojanja (Patrick) Meszaros, Josip Lovrich. He was a devoted grandfather to Kurt (Erica), Lisa (Eric), Alex, Nick and Hanna, and a proud great-grandfather to Lilly and Oliver.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife Gisela, his parents, Louis and Margaret Regganie and his brother, Richard (Dick) and his wife Delores.
A man of deep and abiding Christian faith, Lou drew strength and comfort from his relationship with the Lord throughout his life. His faith was not something he kept to himself; it guided his actions, shaped his character, and provided a foundation for his family. Those who loved him find peace in knowing that he now rests in the eternal embrace of his Heavenly Father, reunited with those who went before him. Family and friends are welcome to gather in remembrance of a life well lived, a man deeply loved, and a legacy of hard work and devotion that will endure for generations to come.
