Of Joliet, passed away at Silver Cross Hospital, Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Age 94 years. Survived by her daughter Donna M. (William) Miller of New Lenox, a grandson William (Lucy) Miller of Des Moines, IA. and granddaughter Elizabeth Miller of New Lenox. Seven special great-grandchildren Surdey, Stonington and Severus Kloss, Liam, Adam, Loran and Micah Miller. Her brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law. Also several nieces and nephews survive. Preceded in death by her husband John W. Surdey (1988), her parents John and Emma Janssen. Twin granddaughters Faith and Hope Miller (1975). Two brothers and five sisters. Lucille was born November 2, 1924 on the family farm in Green Garden Township. She worked on the family farm and also for Wing Hand Laundry for over 30 years. Member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She volunteered at Salem Village Nursing Home and Trinity Services. Lucille was a true farm girl, cutting her own grass well into her 80's and did not give up driving until her 92nd birthday. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd, Saturday, January 5th at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Karl Hess officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Peter Lutheran Church will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until time of services.
