Luke Allen was called home by His Savior at the age of 57 years old on March 30th after a 30 month courageous battle with cancer.
Many of us fondly knew him by Allen. He loved and enjoyed life. Survived by his loving wife of 29 years: Tina Marie (Westborg) Blackburn. Also surviving is his beloved sister Charlene (Randy) Swanson and nephews: Robert Swanson and Thomas (Erica) Swanson.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Luther & Florence (McPhee) Blackburn.
Allen accepted Christ as savior at a young age.
He was very creatively gifted and enjoyed working with his hands & serving the Lord.
Allen grew up in Homer Township. He graduated in1983 from Bible Baptist Academy, Romeoville. He served in the U.S. Army from 1983-1986. He was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. He owned and operated LAB Consultants, LLC for over 30 years.
Allen enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping with his wife. But his greatest enjoyment was serving the Lord with his wife. He preferred working behind the scenes. In the past, he provided leadership in the audio/visual and building/grounds ministry. He helped out in constructing many items for Awana, VBS and numerous special projects at Hickory Creek Church (in Frankfort), where he attended & served with his wife for many years. Allen and his wife also served at Child Evangelism Fellowship 3 Rivers Chapter in Shorewood. Allen and wife were start-up contributors for The Chosen Series created by Dallas Jenkins.
Allen will be deeply missed by all who knew & loved him. Even in his death, he was able to touch people's lives through his life-giving donations to Gifts of Hope. (https://www.giftofhope.org)
Allen's favorite quote by D.L. Moody: "Someday you will read in the papers that Moody is dead. Don't you believe a word of it. At that moment I shall be more alive than I am now. I was born of the flesh in 1837, I was born of the spirit in 1855. That which is born of the flesh may die. That which is born of the Spirit shall live forever."
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Allen's name to Child Evangelism Fellowship (http://www.cef3rivers.org) will be appreciated.
