Obituary

Margaret R. Mantovani (nee Sarnicki) Age 91. Passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Vitas Hospice at Franciscan St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Aloysius F. "Lou" Mantovani; her parents, Thomas and Anna (nee Macko) Sarnicki; one sister, Ann Hunch; brothers, Thomas and John Sarnicki and an infant brother Michael. Marge was born in 1924 in Joliet and a life-long resident. She graduated from Joliet Township High School and for over sixty years remained close with JTHS friends including Eleanor, Cecilia, Jean, Julie, Phyllis, Delores and Helen. She was a former of SS Cyril and Methodius Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Joliet and a current member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Member of the "over 55 club" of St. Patrick's Church and member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. In later life, she enjoyed participating with friends in senior bowling leagues in Joliet and traveling with Lou, especially to Italy, Paris, Prague and Slovakia where she visited her Slovak relatives. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survived by her four sons, Robert (Barbara), James, David (Lina) and Paul (Deborah) Mantovani; her grandchildren, Kevin (Jana), Joel (Heather), Brian (Brandie), Ignacio (Rhea), Victor (Marcela), Viviana, Jessica and Jacob; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, George Sarnicki and one sister, Agnes Volk-Opila and numerous nieces and nephews. Marge was very grateful to the loving care provided over the past seven years by all of her care givers and especially her "angels" Mattie and Leah, who provided her with great support and friendship. A celebration of the life of Margaret R. Mantovani will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home 2320 Black Road in Joliet on Friday, September 25, 2015 from 8:30 am until 10:30 am. A funeral procession will then proceed to St. Patrick's Catholic Church for a funeral mass at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum in Romeoville.
