Margie June
Jamerson
October 2, 1927 – November 30, 2024
Margie June Jamerson, of Joliet, IL, went to her heavenly home on November 30, 2024 at the age of 97.
Born on October 2, 1927, in Omaha, IL, to James "Harry" and Clarissa Bolerjack. Margie married the love of her life, Jack K. Jamerson and together, they shared 57 blessed years of marriage until his passing in 2002.
After raising her three boys, Margie retired from Joliet Public School District #86. She filled her days with crocheting, needlepoint, and cross-stitch, and was an avid reader. Known affectionately as a "card shark," Margie cherished playing games with family and friends. She enjoyed the challenge of putting together puzzles, Word Searches and Sudoku.
A devoted Christian, Margie was an exemplary wife, mother, and friend, active in her church for many decades. She sang in the church choir, participated in passion plays, volunteered as a Mentor Mom for MOPS, and performed with the trio "The JoyBells." She found joy in stuffing bulletins, Sunday church services at local nursing homes like Sunny Hill, and participating in outreach events. Her contributions to the prayer shawl ministry and the "Seasoned Sisters" brought comfort and connection to many. Margie's faith was her foundation. She delighted in knowing her family served the Lord and was a pivotal influence to many in their spiritual journeys.
Margie loved connecting with family on Facebook, traveling when possible, and cooking—she was a master canner and an excellent cook. She also enjoyed swimming, a skill she learned later in life. A compassionate listener and source of encouragement, she was a cherished friend and confidante to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack K. Jamerson; her son, Jackie D. Jamerson; and her sisters, Dorothy Desper and Wilma Shepherd.
Margie is survived by her sons, Joseph (Mary) Jamerson, John (Yvonne) Jamerson, and daughter-in-law, Joyce Jamerson. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren: Scott (Brandi) Jamerson, Kristin (Geoff) Gartner, Brian (Anita) Jamerson, Nicole (Zack) Edgar, and Chris (Rachael) Jamerson; 19 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her special nieces, Nancy (Keith) Heron and Virginia "Ginny" (Richard) Norton.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Lightways Hospice Joliet, caregivers "G," Sara, and Mira from Comfort Care, as well as numerous friends for their love and support during Margie's final months.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to LightWays Hospice in honor of Margie.
