Marion "Jean" Klimek (nee DeMars) – of Joliet, passed away peacefully at Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home, Sunday, January 21, 2018. Age 94 years. Jean was born January 28, 1923 in Havre, Hill County, Montana. Graduated from Fergus Co. High School in Lewiston, MT. Class of 1940. Graduate of Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1944. In January 1945 Jean joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps as a First Lieutenant, she spent 9 months on the Island of Okinawa. Retired from St. Joseph Hospital as a Area Supervisor for 17 years. Jean participated in the Honor Flight Chicago in June of 2014. Lifetime member of Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center Alumni Assn. Member of Woman's Club of Joliet, Hospital and Nurses Card Club and Holy Family Catholic Church. Jean enjoyed knitting and fine handwork. She had a love for travel, especially going home once a year to Montana. Survived by her cousin Marleen (Bob) Jewell of Great Falls, MT. Numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Edward D. Klimek (1987), her parents Albert and Marica DeMars, her step-father James Wilson. Two cousins Juanita (Harry) Atchison and Margaret (Norm) Maze. Special thank you to the entire staff at Rock Run Place for all their kind and compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Thursday, January 25th at 11:00 A.M. Entombment Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.
