Passed away at her residence Friday, March 25, 2022. Age 83 years. Survived by her loving husband of 52 years Bill Kursell, mother to Kim Kursell (Bill Lewis) and Mark (Lisa) Kursell. Grandmother of Moira and Maeve Kursell. Loving sister of Sue (late-Rudy) Mihelich and Pat (late-James) Buchar. Sister-in-law to Richard (Pat) Kursell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Walter and Catherine (nee Flynn) Bussey, siblings Tom and Noreen Bussey, Walter (Mary) Bussey, Catherine (Lynn) Krause and Virginia (William) Dow. Mary Ellen was born November 14, 1938 in Joliet. She attended Joliet Township High School. She worked at Blockson Chemical Co. and Olin Corporation. Mary Ellen enjoyed her time with her family on the river and in Florida. She had a very large family and helped to arrange two family parties every year and kept her family together. Mary Ellen played in different bridge groups where she developed some great friendships. She was very active in PTA, belonged to the Breakfast Club Exercise group at Lewis University and was active in Will County Senior Center activities. Member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church where she helped with CCD classes. She also enjoyed racquetball at the YMCA and golfing. Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., at 9:30 A.M. to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1705 Burry Circle, Crest Hill, Wednesday, March 30th at 10:00 A.M. for Mass of Christian Burial. Memorials to Lightways Hospice or St. Ambrose Catholic Church will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.
