Obituary

Mary E. Palmer (nee Wicks) – Passed away with her family by her side at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Thursday, August 8, 2013. Age 69 years. Survived by two loving daughters Elizabeth "Betsy" (Adam) Burnett and Marguerite "Peggy" "Margo" Cox. Four grandchildren Micaiah, Winter, David and Emily Burnett. A sister Carolyn (David) Earls and a brother Charles (Susan) Wicks. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Born August 21, 1943 in Chicago. Retired elementary school teacher from Joliet School District 86 after 32 years. Mary enjoyed playing her viola and was a member of the West Suburban Symphony Orchestra and the Four Encore String Quartet. Member of the DAR and the Delta Kappa Gamma Teaching Sorority. Longtime member of St. Edward and Christ Episcopal Church in Joliet and a current member of St. Thomas Episcopal in Morris. Memorial mass will be held at St. Edward and Christ Episcopal Church, 260 N. Midland Avenue, Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. James Steele officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of services.
