Obituary

Mary Ruth Pike – known by most as Ruth or Ruthie, went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 9, 2020, surrounded by Karen, Sarah, Lois, Rebekah and Abigail as the hymn was playing "Face to face with Christ my Savior, Face to face what it will be". She left this world and was immediately in the presence of the one she served so faithfully. She was born on August 8, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA. She often spoke of her loving parents who adopted her, her mother Anna Marie (Faught) Stahl, who died in 1940 and her father Jack Stahl who died in 1955. She was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) in 1947. As a couple, they emulated an example of a Godly Christian marriage and had an influence on many people. Her primary role was caring for her home and her children. Ruth worked at A.O Marshall school as an aide to the kindergarten teacher from 1968-1972 and as a receptionist for Dr. Roland, a pediatrician in Joliet, from 1978-1991. In 1933, Ruth accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior after realizing that He went to the cross and died for her sins. She attended the Springcreek Gospel Hall, formally the Joliet and the New Lenox Gospel Hall, since moving to Joliet in 1947. She was known for her kindness in words and deeds. She would send a handwritten note to many people, both near and far. Her home was a home for others to enjoy and she was marked by hospitality. Her love for her Savior was demonstrated in her life. She exemplified the Proverbs 31 Woman-"Her children arise and call her blessed…" She is preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) in 2000, her parents, a brother John, her mother-in-law Orva Pike in 1991 and father-in-law Robert Pike in 1985. She is survived by her children Karen of Joliet, Jack (Linda) of Middleton, Connecticut, Sarah (James) Ludos of Joliet and Lois of Joliet. She is also survived by her brother Ben Stahl of Joliet.
