Mary E. Valkovich (nee Klimek) Mary E. Valkovich was escorted by angels to God's heavenly kingdom on December 21, 2021. Her last weeks were well spent visiting in person and by phone with loved ones from around the country, in view of Christmas lights and her nativity scene. She was a life-long resident of Joliet, IL, graduating from Joliet West High School, where she met her best friend, sweetheart and husband James Valkovich, who survives her. Devoted mother to daughter Wendy (David) Zuchowski of IL, son Jason Valkovich of WA, daughter, Heidi (Philip) Neighbour of MO and son, Caleb (Ashli) Valkovich of IL. Fun-loving "Mema" and chief seamstress of stuffed animals and doll clothes to grandchildren, Judah Neighbour, James Valkovich, Ollie Neighbour, Addison Valkovich, Evie Neighbour and Maggie Neighbour. Mary is also survived by brother, Randy (Rose Mary) Klimek of TX, sisters, Meg (Bob) Cankar of FL and Rose (Allen) Morris of IL and brother, Paul Klimek (Sara DeLaRosa) of MI, mother-in-law, Dorothy Love of IL, sister-in-law Sue (Bob) Kiefer of IL, sister-in-law, Bonnie Klimek of MI and numerous extended family members. Preceded in death by her parents, Al and Shirley Klimek, brothers, Ken Klimek, Mike Klimek, Bill Klimek and sister, Jenny Klimek. Mary loved the Lord and followed Christ in her daily life. She deeply loved her family, friends, laughter, learning and the beauty of God's natural world and order. She lived what she believed daily, in both good and difficult times, and was source of strength and trusted wisdom to many. She leaves behind a legacy of teaching others what matters in life, and just as importantly, what does not. She is forever in our hearts. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
