Obituary

Michael J. Gloviak Passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021. Age 64 years. Survived by three siblings, Cassandra (Harold) Tolliver, Philip (Carolina) Gloviak and Suzanne (Robert) Matuska. Preceded in death by his mother, Helen Czarnik Gloviak and his father, Stanley Gloviak. Michael was the proud uncle of Jeffrey, Timothy and Kristin Ziaja; Kimberly, Shaun and Catherine Matuska; James Gloviak. Also fond grand uncle to many great-nieces and great-nephews. Michael's chosen sport as a youth and young adult was ice hockey – playing for teams in Oak Park, Illinois and at Proviso West High School. He attended hockey camps in Canada and was recruited to play hockey at Eastern Illinois University. He ultimately graduated from the University of Illinois, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, major in English. He taught elementary and high school students in the Chicago Public Schools and the Will County School System. Michael was a lover of the profound written word, a spiritual poet and a passionate artist. His original works reflected his deep faith and his abiding belief in God's ever presence in nature. Visitation for Michael J. Gloviak will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles 2320 Black Road Joliet on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 4 pm to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 9:15 am from the funeral home to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside.
