Michael Lee Nippert
Michael was accepted in Gods loving arms, December 13, 2021 at the age of 72 years. He was born in Colorado Springs, CO on May 6, 1949 to George and Lillian Nippert. Michael grew up in Colorado until his family moved to Joliet, when he was 8 years old. He attended Taft Grade School, Hufford Jr. High and graduated from Joliet West High School, Class of 1967. After high school, he then went on to trade school to become a carpenter. He was a proud union carpenter for Local 174 and also served as the Recording Secretary for many years. He worked as a carpenter for over 50 years. He retired in 2003 and Mike and Lee Ann enjoyed many rounds of golf together. He loved gardening, cooking and he had his private pilot's license.
In high school, he met his future wife, Lee Ann Carlson. They were married on September 13, 1969 and celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on September 13, 2021.
Michael and Lee Ann were blessed with two lovely daughters, Jennifer Nippert and Kristin (Michael) Bragg. They really enjoyed when the grandkids came along, Tristan (8), Addison (4) Bragg and they were grandpa's greatest joy.
He is also survived by his three sisters, Sharon Simons of DesMoines, IA, Patricia (Dominic) Lusinchi of San Francisco, CA and Kathleen (Donald) Fanning of Shorewood; his two nephews, Brian Fanning and Kevin Fanning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George (2006) and Lillian (2018) Nippert.
Visitation for Michael Lee Nippert will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Road on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4 to 8 PM. Michael will lie-in-state at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1910 Black Road, Joliet on Friday morning, December 17, 2021 beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Loy Scholte officiating. Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Michael's name to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation would be appreciated.
