Obituary

Passed away at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, Friday, July 6, 2018. Age 95 years. Survived by three sons Kenneth "Kent" P. Parker, Jr. of San Jose, CA., Dave (Sue Treharne-Parker) Parker of Plainfield and Mark (Susan) Parker of New Hartford, IA. A daughter Myrita Ellen (Peter) Margolis of Cincinnati, OH. Five grandchildren Myrita Elizabeth Craig, Fred Craig III, Marc Parker, Elli (Si) Eiklenborg and Carson Parker. Her sister Edith Zuber. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Kenneth "Ken" P. Parker, Sr. (2013), her brother John "Jay" Milligan and her parents David and Marguerite (nee Grady) Milligan. Myrita was born May 13, 1923 in Jersey City, NJ. Graduate of Douglas College for Women at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ. Myrita retired from Joliet Grade Schools as an Elementary Teacher for over 30 years. She taught hundreds of Joliet children and was a remarkable educator. Myrita was a former members of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she was active with the outreach lay ministry. Current member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Myrita was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to shop, have coffee with her friends and play bridge. Myrita was an avid fan of her children and grandchildren's events (sports or otherwise) throughout her life and cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Angles, 1301 Wyoming Ave., Friday, July 13th at 9:30 A.M. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Memorials to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital will be appreciated. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., Thursday from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M.
