Nancy R. (nee Engandela) Malone, 95, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Brookdale Lakeway in Austin, Texas, where she had moved in 2015 to be closer to her daughter. She was formerly from Joliet, Illinois and before that New Lenox, Illinois and born in Chicago, in 1926. Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, Joliet, is in charge of her arrangements. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln Memorial National Cemetery, Elwood, IL, at a date to be determined later. Due to the Pandemic we are not encouraging large gatherings at this time. Please honor her by having catholic masses, in your own churches, in her memory.
She is survived by her 5 loving children and their beloveds, James E. Malone (Michele), of Pagosa Springs, CO, Patrick (Whitney) Malone, of Santa Fe, NM, Rosemary Malone-Hall (Michael Hall), of Driftwood, TX, Michael (Kate) Malone, of Santa Fe, NM and Daniel (Kristin) Malone, of Morrow, OH. She is also survived by her grandson, James M. Malone, of St. Croix, USVI, and Cameron Vaanderlan of Santa Fe, NM. and step grandchildren, Rikki Carroll, (Weston) of Santa Fe, NM and Morgan Smith, of Cincinnati, OH and Dani Smith, of Milford, OH.
Nancy was preceded in death by her Beloved Husband of 62 years, Gene Malone. She was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Rose Engandela, her Sister Ann (Tony) Buttita, brothers Joe (Antoinette) Engandela, and Victor Engandela.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Illinois at Urbana. She enjoyed working for the University Press in Champaign, IL and later worked with Scott Foresman & Company, Chicago, IL.
Nancy enjoyed playing Bridge with their many dear friends, Euchre with family, Solitaire, music, reading and classic movies.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
