Ned J. Rocks
Late of Joliet, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the age of 83. Ned died peacefully with his beloved wife Laura and their children by his side.
Ned was born on the Southside of Joliet on December 7, 1938, to Ned A. Rocks and Victoria Furlan. The youngest and only boy with 3 sisters, Jennie, Lena and Gloria whose birthday he attended on the day of his passing. He graduated from Sacred Heart School and Joliet Catholic High and enlisted in the US Army at the age of 17.
At the end of his enlistment, he remained in the National Guard for 6 years and met Laura Brandolino in 1957, got married in 1959 and raised their 3 children, Lorie, Marie and Ned. In April, they would have celebrated 63 years of marriage. Spending time with family was everything to Ned, most especially spending time with their grandkids and great-grandchildren. He adored them.
Ned was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and American Italian Cultural Society.
Ned was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Victoria, infant brother at birth, sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennie and Joe Zubcic, Lena and Pete Likar, Gloria and Ken Wruk. Mother and Father-in-law, Ginetta and Santo Brandolino; brothers and sisters in-law Ernestine and John Egizzi, Nick and Barbara Brandolino, brother-in-law, Donato Brandolino and special grandson, Andrew Mazza.
Ned, aka " PaPa," is survived by his wife Laura; children Lorie Mazza, Marie & Charlie Baker, Ned & Carrie Rocks; grandchildren, Samantha (Kevin) Bauc, Alex Mazza, Kristin Rocks, Austin Rocks, Bobby (Nikki) Kelsey and great-grandchildren, Keira Bauc, Trent Bauc, Jay and Jack Kelsey. Many special nieces, nephews and god-children also survive him.
The family was blessed with the prayers and support from family and friends during this difficult time. We know dad truly appreciated it.
Visitation for Ned J. Rocks will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home 2320 Black Road Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 3 to 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from the funeral home at 9:15 AM to the Church of St. Jude for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ned's name to Lightways Hospice would be appreciated.
