Oscar D. Boyd – A lifelong Rockdale resident, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side, Saturday, November 5, 2016. Age 76 years. Survived by his loving wife Karen (Voight), his son, Donald (Erin) Boyd, 4 daughters, Lisa Boyd, Rhonda (Raul) Del Rio, Jodi (Terry) Boyd and Kelly (Jeff) Koonce; 18 grandchildren Tiffany (Matt), Johnathan, Tyler, Zachary, Tracy (Bobby), Vallerie (Juan), Connor, Evin, Kyle, Raul III, Stephan, Julia, Payton, Logan, Dilan, Autumn, Jeffrey Jr., and Abigail; 7 great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Damien, Maddox, Carson, Seth, Xander and Kylee and two brothers Ernest and Robert Koch. Preceded in death by his parents Lee and Donna Boyd, 3 brothers, Phil Koch, Albert Boyd and Urban Boyd and 2 sisters at birth. Oscar was born in Danville, Il on December 25, 1939. He retired from Commonwealth Edison after 28 years. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Saratoga. He loved gardening, decorating for the holidays and traveling with friends, but his real love was for his family especially his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all. Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory, 2320 Black Road on Thursday November 10, 2016 at 9:30 A.M. to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00A.M. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice will be appreciated. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3:00 – 7:00 P.M.
