Of Joliet, passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 96 years.

Pedro was born June 29th, 1929 in Cuanamuco, Mexico to Matias and Teodula Figueroa.

Pedro dedicated many years of his life to Chellino Cheese Company, where he built a long and fulfilling career. Even after retirement, his strong work ethic and love of staying active inspired him to continue working. Above all else, Pedro cherished time spent with his family. He loved gathering around the table, sharing meals, dancing, and indulging in his favorite sweets. A man of deep faith, Pedro was a devoted Catholic and faithful member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Pedro was a pillar of his community and was lovingly known as the neighborhood grandpa with his kindness, warmth, and welcoming spirit.

Pedro was preceded in death by his parents Matias and Teodula Figueroa, his siblings Maria, Baltazar, Nicolas, Roberto, Luis and Hilda.

He leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by his wife of 78 years Amalia Figueroa, his seven loving children Ernesto (Francisca) Figueroa, Ruben (Estella) Figueroa, Salvador Figueroa, Yolanda Guzman Figueroa, Delia “Maria” Lopez, Estela (Andres) Figueroa Conchas, and Josefina “Chepa” (Fernando) Garcia. His nineteen wonderful grandchildren Dustin, Elena, Yovana, Ernie, Sofia, Ruben Jr., Christopher, Peter, Alejandro, Guadalupe, Alfredo Jr., Antonio, Jose, Nancy, Jessica, David, Rigoberto Jr. Nereyda, and Pedro. His thirty-six great-grandchildren and his beloved nephew David Orozco. His siblings Jose’, Rafael, Delfino, Carmen, Jovita, Margarita, Consuelo and Rosa.

Funeral services will be held from the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, Tuesday, June 23rd at 9:30 A.M. to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 205 E. Jackson St. at 11:00 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Cremtory, 2320 Black Rd., Monday, June 22nd from 2:00 – 8:00 P.M.

De Joliet, falleció pacíficamente en su hogar el 18 de junio de 2026, rodeado del amor de su familia, a la edad de 96 años.

Pedro nació el 29 de junio de 1929 en Cuanamuco, México, hijo de Matías y Teodula Figueroa.Pedro dedicó muchos años de su vida a la Compañía de Quesos Chellino, donde desarrolló una larga y gratificante carrera. Incluso después de jubilarse, su fuerte ética de trabajo y su amor por mantenerse activo lo inspiraron a seguir trabajando. Por encima de todo, Pedro atesoraba el tiempo compartido con su familia. Disfrutaba reunirse alrededor de la mesa, compartir comidas, bailar y deleitarse con sus dulces favoritos. Hombre de profunda fe, Pedro fue un católico devoto y fiel miembro de la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo. Fue un pilar de su comunidad y era cariñosamente conocido como el “abuelito del vecindario” por su amabilidad, calidez y espíritu acogedor.

Pedro fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres, Matías y Teodula Figueroa; y por sus hermanos María, Baltazar, Nicolás, Roberto, Luis e Hilda.

Deja un hermoso legado y será profundamente extrañado por su esposa de 78 años, Amalia Figueroa; sus siete queridos hijos: Ernesto (Francisca) Figueroa, Rubén (Estella) Figueroa, Salvador Figueroa, Yolanda Guzmán Figueroa, Delia “María” López, Estela (Andrés) Figueroa Conchas y Josefina “Chepa” (Fernando) García. También le sobreviven sus diecinueve maravillosos nietos: Dustin, Elena, Yovana, Ernie, Sofía, Rubén Jr., Christopher, Peter, Alejandro, Guadalupe, Alfredo Jr., Antonio, José, Nancy, Jessica, David, Rigoberto Jr., Nereyda y Pedro; sus treinta y seis bisnietos; su querido sobrino David Orozco; y sus hermanos José, Rafael, Delfino, Carmen, Jovita, Margarita, Consuelo y Rosa.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo desde Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory el martes 23 de junio a las 9:30 a.m., con procesión hacia la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, ubicada en 205 E. Jackson St., donde se celebrará una Misa de Funeral Cristiana a las 11:00 a.m. La sepultura tendrá lugar en el Cementerio Católico St. Joseph.La velación se llevará a cabo en Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Rd., el lunes 22 de junio, de 2:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m
